This is Erik, a Senior Product Designer based in San Diego, California. I bring together business strategy, user experience, and technology to help teams turn ideas into products that make sense.
I'm a generalist by nature, and I like being involved from the early questions all the way to the details of how something works. Tools will keep evolving, and we'll keep getting better and faster ways to bring ideas to life. But I still think the most important part happens before any of that: when a team gets together, challenges assumptions, throws ideas around, and figures out what's actually worth building. That's the part I enjoy most, and where I think I do my best work.
My path to design has been diverse and rewarding. While teaching at the university, I completed a PhD in UX, which included working in a research lab on complex industrial interfaces. This experience gave me a deep understanding of user behavior, design intricacies, and the importance of learning about not just the users, but also the products and processes behind them.
Eager to be part of the fast-paced and dynamic world of technology and design, I transitioned into a UX design agency. There, I had the chance to work on a variety of projects for major brands, helping them bring their ideas to life. Eventually, I ventured into freelancing, partnering with early-stage startups.
